almost40_3girls: can I have my registered copy of MC 5.04 on my laptop and load up the MC6 trial version?
I believe the answer is you would need to have a dual boot configuration to do that. To the best of my knowledge, you cannot have two different versions of Media Composer installed simultaneously on the same system drive.

Probably better to get another hard drive to put the Trial on, I don't think co-existence is possible.

An Acronis image with everything of my system EXCEPT Media Composer is what I always do.
It takes 4-5 minutes to go back to the start and some 30 minutes to install MC and plugins.
However on online activation this could be tricky. I am on a dongle.

What is the current cost to move from 5 .0 to 6.0, I know there is probably no deals right now....
Jeff, this is entirely from memory, but I believe it is $495.00.
And until June 15 2012 you can upgrade to Symphony for $999. it includes BCC8, MC does not. Considering BCC goes for $500+ for upgrades and new purchases, the upgrade to Symphony is a great value.

Happy Editing!
I just looked it up on line unless there is something else, the cost for a MC upgrade is $575. Other $424 sounds like a good value for what you get but right now the $575 is hard to find!
