hello,
i cropped a keyed out image of a ufo that had white in the background and the crop made its own white/greyish boarder/ frame around it. if i crop smaller, the white border resizes and remains around the ufo. it looks like a picture frame around it. anyone know how i can get rid of that white border so its just the image of the ufo? thanks!
Hello,
google for "rotoscoping with photoshop" for a lot of guides doing it in photoshop.
If you haven't PS try gimp (it's free)
regards,
Udo
In Photoshop, invert the UFO background layer from white to black and export with an alpha channel. That will import into Avid as a matte key clip and will key cleanly.

Thanks to both Udo and Larry for all that early morning help on this issue!
its not a photoshop issue- it's a weird crop issue. the more i crop it out - it doesn't matter - that white frame border is still there.
thanks
Check to be sure you do not have a border or shadow on the Deko layer by looking at the Details in the Look tab (View > Style, Look tab – Details)
If not, the problem is in the original graphic. Try to create a new graphic in the same way and see if it is giving you the border. If so, please email me directly and I will send you a known good file that you can compare with.
hi mary,
where is the look tab? i've only been teaching myself avid for the last 4 days. i cant find a look tab anywhere or a view, style, details anywhere either- how do i find them?
thanks,
matt
In the standard layout the Style menu is on the left. If you do not see it, click on the View pulldown menu, choose Style.
There are 4 tabs on the Style menu. Choose Look.
At the top is a list of Details. Leave the Face, delete any others using the Delete tab
Be sure the Face is not hidden or blurred
