MC 6 & 6.01 freezes and white screens.

Clean install of win7 pro 64 MC 6.01 and all the attendant drivers.  With the recommended nvidea driver I get BSOD as MC loads it's viewer panes.  The BSOD names the nvidea driver as the culprit.  If I install the latest nvidea rather than the previous I get random white screens.

Everything has been installed, uninstalled and reinstalled with the same results every time.  Ideas gratefully received.

    Hello Ian,

I believe that the NVidia Quadro cards with an x500 number can have issues with the newer drivers in combination with MC6.
I have an Nvidia Quadro 3500 and another machine with an Nvidia Quadro 3700 card. The 3700 runs well with the supplied drivers, but the 3500 crashes.
I rolled back to the 190.38 drivers for the 3500 card and all works well there too.

    Try installing the 190.38 drivers.

I have also been fighting this problem.  the system is a T5400, FX3600 and a nitris dx.  It works ok without the nitris connected but when connected, randomly it locks up when you press play - white screen etc.

This setup worked perfectly on ver 4 and 5 - what has changed in 6?

Tried everything.  new drivers, old drivers, complete reinstall of OS and Avid.

I can only think that Avid have made a software error with this config.  This is a fully qualified system so why doesnt it work!

If you use nvidea 275.89 do you get BSOD?

Re: MC 6 & 6.01 freezes and white screens.

I did have a BSOD problem with an FX1400 and ver 190 driver but the later driver sorted that.  So with the 275 driver and the FX3600 - no I did not have the BSOD.

I am at a loss with this one.  I tried two different graphics cards so it cant be the card or driver.  I was thinking it was a dell problem but you are on an HP......

Re: MC 6 & 6.01 freezes and white screens.

Have you seen this from an old post?:

"I managed to replicate the problem, establish a pattern and come up with a workaround. Hopefully, this will give enough hint to the mighty engineering team in Burlington to fix it. So here it goes:

-if project is launched with no BOB attached, system works fine

-if project is launched with MojoDX attached in green-green 8/10bit modes, system will not hang

-if project is launched with MojoDX attached in yellow-yellow or yellow-green modes, system will consistently hang after 1 second of playback

-later today I will try to test with a NitrisDX box as well

-WORKAROUND: right after the project launch, change the video quality button (doesn't matter if you go back to a yellow mode). This will avoid the crash and you can enjoy a fully functional session. If launching in green-green, you don't need the workaround(see above)

-project format, framerate and media type seem irrelevant to the issue"

Re: MC 6 & 6.01 freezes and white screens.

    Well, this is interesting.

I had these same issues with my Multibridge Eclipse. Exactly the same. Have been in touch with BMdesign many times.

The way I resolved the issue was to uninstal Quicktime, Avid MC6 and BMagic software and drivers.

Reinstall in this order, Quicktime Pro, Avid MC6 and then BMagic software and drivers.

The first time I load MC6 always freezes plus white screen. Shut down then load again and all is well. After the first freeze can work all day and night, close Avid reload with no problems. Shut down system then the proceedure starts again.

    Plus sluggish.

    Radman.

Re: MC 6 & 6.01 freezes and white screens.

This appears to be a serious problem as many people are reporting the same problems from back in November:

    http://community.avid.com/forums/p/104494/605850.aspx#605850

What is strange is that it is on all types of computer and hardware configurations, even fully qualified ones like mine.

Does anyone have any solution?  Avid?
