    MC 6 On Snow Leopard

    For curiousity sake..

We've run MC6-trial on a 10.6.8 (snow) and it worked with no noticeable problems.

Can someone confirm any major issues running MC6 in Snow?

I know, and we can upgrade OS...just curious.

    Thanks.

I've used it a few times and it seems to work fine. But as it's an unsupported configuration you may have issues down the line. But that may be less painful than dealing with Lion!

Re: MC 6 On Snow Leopard

Much less painful. Under the hood considerations aside I personally find the touchpad/swipe-gesture loving Lion with its Mission Control and multiple desktops to be a terrible OS for Avid compared to Snow Leopard with the application assignable Spaces. Lion is fantastic for MacBooks but not for Workstations and if MC6 on SnowLeopard proved stable i would jump at the chance of rolling Lion back. I admit to being a tad unclear about the 64bit issue in SL.. can anyone enlighten?

My guess is software only is less of an issue under 10.6.8 but obviously the 3rd party hardware support is being geared to the 10.7 OS releases so may well have issues under 10.6

Re: MC 6 On Snow Leopard

Mac OS X 10.6.8 use the 64-bit kernal by default on Mac Pro 2x quade core (early 2008 and later).  However, one can verify it as follows:

Q How can I verify if my Mac is running the 64-bit kernel?

    A.

    1. Open the Apple System profiler utility

                - Apple menu > About This Mac > More Info

    2. In the left-hand column, click the “Software” categeory.

    3. On the right, you should see “64-bit Kernel and Extensions” Here you can confirm.

    For more information see:

Mac OS X v10.6: Macs that use the 64-bit kernel

I trust MC 6.0.1 should run fine on OS X 10.6.8 provided is using 64-bit Kernel.  Any comment?
