Avid at the 129th AES Show – Lets see what the Pros have to say

The final countdown to the AES show in San Francisco has begun and we couldn't be more excited. The convention kicks off on Thursday and we just can't wait to show off all the new releases we’ve brought to the market recently.

But there’s more going on at AES than just new product show & tell. Appearing on our main stage at the Avid booth - and in workshops and panels at the show itself - there are going to be some incredible opportunities to hear professionals speaking first hand about the power of Avid’s audio solutions and the technological opportunities on the horizon.

Rotating demos on our main stage throughout the show will feature Avid audio and video solutions in real-world applications, including a music creation/tracking/mixing demo following the recording of a song from laptop, to desktop, to final mix in a studio, as well as a post production demo featuring scenes and workflows from HBO’s Emmy award winning series: The Pacific.

Features speakers on our main stage will include:
•    Butch Vig, Garbage drummer and Grammy winning producer of Green Day’s “21st Century Breakdown,” and Nirvana’s “Nevermind.” (Friday 4:45pm*)
•    Dave Hill, founder of Cranesong and co-developer of Avid’s HEAT software (Saturday at 4:45pm, Sunday at 1pm*)
•    Billy Bush, recording engineer who has worked with Beck, Garbage, and Korn. (Friday 4:45pm*)
•    Jonathan Wales, founder and CEO of  Sonic Magic Studios and post-mixer with over 195 film audio credits. (Friday 1pm, Saturday 1pm*)

These pro’s will be sharing stories and best practices honed from years of professional experience, as well as audio workflow tips, behind-the-scenes production details, and their own personal thoughts on how Avid is delivering on our promise to provide open, flexible solutions for interoperable production environments.

Also appearing at AES as part of the workshop and seminar series, Avid’s Robert Scovill will present as part of an Economics-Driven Change of Touring live sound seminar on Thursday, November 4 and a Live Monitoring and Latency with Digital Audio Networks workshop on Friday, November 5. In addition, Avid’s Sheldon Radford will participate in an Audio/Video Bridging (AVB) product design panel discussion on 11/5. Please check the links for each panel to get schedule and location information.

And let me just remind you again about our Twitter contest. As we tweet news and updates throughout the show on @AvidTechnology/buzz, simply retweet it with the #AvidBuzz tag and you could win a Pro Tools recording solution. The show kicks off on Thursday 11/4 so prepare yourself. Get some water, snacks, and a comfy chair set up for your retweet command center. Schedule that hand masseuse to swing by periodically. And read the full contest rules here.

Check back in for more info throughout the week and be sure to swing by and say hello when you’re at the show up in San Francisco.
